The Impact of Your Thoughts
It's almost impossible to calculate how many thoughts pass through our minds each day. Some may last only a second, then disappear. Others feed on themselves and grow.
In the book, As A Man Thinketh, author James Allen describes how this process impacts our lives. He says, "Into your hands will be placed the exact results of your own thoughts...You will become as small as your controlling desire: as great as your dominant aspiration."
Since you have a choice over what you allow your mind to dwell upon, follow the advice of Paul the Apostle: "Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-think about such things" (Philippians 4:8 NIV).
We must allow the Lord to guide every area of our lives-including our thinking. Remember, as believers, "we have the mind of Christ" (1 Corinthians 2:16).
